BLAKE MORGAN'S "BETTER ANGELS" FEATURED IN REAL WORLD BROOKLYN, WED., MARCH 18, 2009!

 
Blake Morgan, artist, producer and mastermind behind Engine Company Records, is at it again.  His hit song "Better Angels" is prominently featured in a very emotional scene in an historic episode of The Real World, Brooklyn -- arguably the best episode of The Real World ever. 
 
The roommates escort Ryan to the Veterans Day Parade in New York City and "Better Angels" is the underscore for the scene -- culminating in the phenomenal vocal performance over the war photo montage.  Very touching, very emotional, very sad foreshadowing considering Ryan gets the phone call that he's been called back to Iraq in the next scene.  Don't get me started on the war... but do go listen to "Better Angels" -- and all of Blake's music for that matter.  Wait, how 'bout all of Engine Company's music.  It's very soothing on the face and head and is known to cure foot pain.

FIGURE AND GROOVE AND FORD FEATURED IN EPISODES OF USA'S HIT SPY SHOW, BURN NOTICE!

SHAKTI'S "DO THE THANG THANG" FEATURED IN THE COLUMBIA PICTURES COMEDY PAUL BLART: MALL COP, STARRING KEVIN JAMES

 
"Do The Thang Thang", the acclaimed Bhangra hip hop track by the first Indian Hip Hop diva, Shakti (co-written and produced by producer-extraordinaire Marcus "Bellringer" Bell, Global Soul Entertainment), will be featured in the new Columbia Pictures release, Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Kevin James plays a mild-mannered, dutiful dad who works as a security guard in a New Jersey mall. He's always wanted to be a cop, but he can't pass the physical exam because of his... um... largeness. One day, a gang of organized thugs place the mall under siege and take hostages. Blart is trapped inside and, because of his sense of duty, becomes the police's eyes on the inside and has to stop the criminals on his own. Check out the film... and check out Shakti. Great, great stuff!

MELISSA GIGES' "BEFORE I'M BARELY SEEN" FEATURED IN SEASON PREMIERE OF REAL WORLD: BROOKLYN JAN. 7 AT 10PM ET/PT ON MTV!


Perhaps you've already seen the promos for the brand spanking new season of MTV's Real World which takes place "in the town where I was born"... Brooklyn, NY. If so, you've undoubtedly been hearing Melissa Giges' amazing track "Before I'm Barely Seen" from her March 2, 2009 release Evident on Engine Company Records.  Well, the song will be prominently featured in the season premiere of The Real World: Brooklyn... so crack open a beer and check out MTV at 10PM ET/PT on Jan. 7. If you have a life and have to miss the initial airing, don't worry!!  It'll replay a ton, so check your local listings. Apparently, it'll be featured during a scene where the gay guy and the transgendered girl are bonding... in a cab maybe... or something like that. And by the way, the album will be released worldwide on March 2, 2009, but it is available right now on iTunes or you can go to Melissa's website to order a copy. The first 500 are hand-signed and hand-numbered by Melissa. The album is stunning, so be the first kid on your block to check it out!

"SILENT I WILL BE" AND "BEDTIME STORY" FROM MELISSA GIGES' MARCH, 2009 RELEASE "EVIDENT" AND "THANK YOU GOD FOR TV" BY PATTI ROTHBERG ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF BAD GIRLS CLUB, DEC. 2, 2008 AT 10PM ON OXYGEN NETWORK!

I have no words.  Seriously.  Okay, I do have words, but they're mostly strung together to make phrases like "Oh My GAWD", "Holy Shit" and "How Did Your Mother Let You Live". Season 3 of Oxygen Network's  hit series, Bad Girls Club, premiered last night and the cast is absolutely brilliant. My initial inclination was to call my mother to tell her to watch so she could see how easy she had it. (Well, sort of.) Instead, I pictured Melissa Giges' phone call to her mother... "Hi mom, I know my album doesn't come out until March 2, but it made its national TV debut last night on Bad Girls Club. "Silent, I Will Be" played after the girls bought sex toys from a vending machine and "Bedtime Story" played after the girls got into a fight and were kicked out of the 2nd club of the evening. But don't worry, my licensing person thinks we'll easily get a murder scene soon." I love my job SO much!!  And I love Bad Girls Club!! Most of all I love Melissa's album Evident, scheduled for release March 2, 2009 on Engine Company Records . Speaking of Engine Company Records, another ECR classic      " Thank You God For TV " by Patti Rothberg from the Anywhere (Original Soundtrack), was also featured in the premiere episode.

"WE BALLIN" BY TRIP THEORY (FEATURING KEYZ) FEATURED ON MTV'S THE HILLS & FROM G'S TO GENTS!

I really love The Hills. Great show. And if I could pluck the ears off someone, it would probably be Spencer Pratt. Seriously, what is wrong with that guy? Funny thing, I saw Spencer and Heidi at Don Antonios in West LA in April and again at Cafe Vida in Pacific Palisades in August. Why are they following me? Anyway, when I heard one of my favorite hip hop tracks, We Ballin by Trip Theory (Feat. Keyz) -- now known as White Men Can't Crunk -- playing when Spencer was getting out of his car, I thought it was perfect. He's so full of himself and the track has so much swagger and attitude! And in the season finale of From G's To Gents We Ballin is also featured. So check out Episode 403 of The Hills and Episode 110 of From G's To Gents to hear this great song!

TRI-BORO'S "HOW WE LIVE" FEATURED ON MTV'S FROM G'S TO GENTS, TUES., AUG. 5 @ 10PM

Seriously, this show is almost as fascinating as Extreme Makeover without the big reveal.  From G's To Gents is a new MTV reality competition where 14 G's (uh, G stands for Gangsta, mom) try to transform themselves into gentlemen.  Kick ass, right?

So check out the show, and thanks to our friends at MTV, listen up for "How We Live" by Tri-Boro.  Actually, you can look out for it too.  It's actually ID'd on screen, but beware... the artist says Trio-Boro and the song says "On The Scene".  I assure you, that's just super secret code for "How We Live" by Tri-Boro.

With all the amazingness going on with Blake Morgan and his label Engine Company Records these days, I'm going to have to start calling him "maverick recording artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Blake Morgan" -- the way he's referred to in All Music Guide .  But I draw the line at having to call him Mr. Morgan, so there! 

Morgan's stunning  Better Angels will air on the season finale of The Real World: Hollywood , Wed., July 9 @10PM on MTV .  Taken from his acclaimed album Burning Daylight , Better Angels also appears on the album  Ever Since by legendary recording artist,  Lesley Gore .  Gore's version of Better Angels  aired a couple of times this month on  CSI: Miami .  Morgan's Caught In The Meantime  also aired in  Episode 7 of The Real World: Hollywood and  Right As Rain aired in Episode 8 .  Thanks again to the folks at  Bunim-Murray !

Okay, I admit it, I love shows and movies about the Witness Protection Program.  There, I said it.  So I was intrigued when the fine folks at NBC/Universal wanted to license some music for  USA's new hit show, In Plain Sight ... about the... uh... Witness Protection Program!  

Make Ur Nature Rise by Ali Baba and Whatchuneed Girl by Yung Saucy were both co-written and produced by producer extraordinaire Jesse "Belief" Shatkin  who also works with other notable artists including Wordsworth, Hanif Jamiyl, Mel Gates, Sumkid Majere, P-Swag, Bathgate, Pudge, Kosha Dillz, Ambush, Jeanine, Green, Karniege, Julius Smith, Presha The Marxman, Shabaam Saadiq and many more.  Great stuff, folks!  And if you missed the episode, they're replaying it a few times so check it out!

To make a very long and sad story short, our dedicated server fatally crashed and all of the exciting news of the past few months was lost in the tragedy.  Since there's no way I'd ever be able to recreate old news with any sort of charm -- what do you want, I'm bitter -- it's probably best to look ahead.  So I now introduce to you the new $*%(�* newsless website.  Ugh!
